Frequently Asked Questions
What is “Pawn Loan”?
A Pawn Loan is a fast and secure way to receive the cash you need, based off the value of the merchandise you leave as collateral. Our expert employees will determine the maximum amount of money we can lend based on the value of your items. Ideal Jewelry and Loan will store your Gold and Diamond jewelry in highly secure vaults. Other items will be stored in our secure building that is only accessed by employees. Your items will never be touched until you pay off the loan. On average, 90% of all loans are repaid. Repeat customers make up much of our business. Some customers borrow against the same items regularly. If the borrower chooses not to repay the loan and interest charges, we must try to recover our investment from the item left in pawn. Any time before the end of the loan due date, you can redeem your items by paying back the amount you borrowed, plus any interest and fees, all of which will be carefully explained to you before making the actual loan. Your Valuables are safe with us!
How do we determine the value of your items?
Our staff of experts bases pawn loan amounts on the value of your item—its current appraised value, its current condition. We use all the research tools we have at our disposal to determine an item’s value and to get you the most money we can. Gold is based on the karat and the exact weight of the pieces. Diamonds are based on the 4 C’s; Clarity, Color, Cut, and Carat weight.
Can I receive a quote over the phone?
Ideal Jewelry and Loan will try our best to let you know whether we would loan or purchase any merchandise you may have over the phone. We do not give quotes without having the items in person to assess each item. Our staff of experts will need to evaluate the condition and exact specifications of the items in order to determine the value.
How can I renew my loan?
If you are unable to pay back the entire loan by the due date, you can extend or renew your loan by paying the interest that is due. A new loan will then be drawn up giving you another four months.
What if I cannot pay back my loan?
In Massachusetts, pawn loans are written up for four months. If at the end of four months, you do not pay off your loan or at least the interest due, you will receive an overdue notice sent via certified mail to the address you provided us with. The overdue notice gives you at least another 15 days. If at the end of this period of time you still have not paid, your item will be forfeited, and ownership gets transferred to Ideal. This in no way effects your ability to make future loans with us.
What can be pawned?
Just about anything of value can be pawned, but each pawn shop decides what is acceptable for pawn loans. We loan on gold, platinum, silver jewelry, coins, sports memorabilia, antiques, instruments, almost all electronics (Less than one year old) and many other items! Give us a call now!
